    Galapagos Islands

    The Galapagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands located in the Pacific Ocean, about1,000 kilometers (620 miles) off the coast of Ecuador in South America. The archipelago consists of18 main islands and several smaller ones, with a total land area of approximately8,000 square kilometers (3,040 square miles).The islands are famous for their unique and diverse wildlife, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. This is largely due to their remote location and isolation, which allowed for the evolution of distinct species. The Galapagos Islands were also the inspiration for Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection

    The islands are home to a wide variety of animals, including giant tortoises, marine iguanas, Galapagos penguins, blue-footed boobies, and Darwin’s finches. The marine life is equally impressive, with opportunities for snorkeling and diving to see sea lions, sharks, turtles, and colorful fish

    The Galapagos Islands are protected as a national park and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strict regulations are in place to ensure the conservation of the unique ecosystems and to limit human impact. Visitors to the islands need to be accompanied by a licensed guide and follow specific guidelines to minimize disturbance to the wildlife

    Tourism is an important industry in the Galapagos Islands, with visitors coming from all over the world to experience the unique wildlife and natural beauty. However, the fragile ecosystems of the islands are facing challenges due to increasing human activity and invasive species. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect the biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands for future generations.

    Hein Angermeyer is a multilingual Certified Naturalist Guide of the Galapagos Islands and a passionate photographer. His fascination with the enchanted islands originates with his childhood as he grew up and went to primary school on the Galapagos Islands. It should be noticed, that the family Angermeyer has a very prominent legacy in the Galápagos and an interesting part of the story of German settlements in the islands in the early stage of the last century.

    He became a Naturalist guide since 1990, many companies during the next seven years. In this time, he developed his skills as a passionate photographer, which deals a great part of his professional dedication.

    The most current developments in drone technology and applications since 2012, drove Hein to combine his photographic skills together with the advanced use of aerial photography, as well as geo-referenced mapping and video, for his documentation of landscape morphology as well as animal behavior of various island species. His interests have led him to become recently also a drone pilot instructor. Hein Angermeyer lives in Quito and in the Galápagos.

    In echoes of the ethereal night,
    A dream weaves a celestial flight,
    Within my heart, a flickering glow,
    I feel a dream with you, aglow.

    Beside the moon’s enchanted sway,
    Our souls entwined in forms sublime,
    As stars dance in the milky way,
    A tapestry of love in rhyme.

    With gentle whispers on the breeze,
    Embracing tendrils of allure,
    We wander through kaleidoscope seas,
    Where secrets whispered, love secure.

    Within this dream, our spirits soar,
    Entwined as one – an eternal chore,
    Through time and space, we seamlessly stride,
    Forever bound, no thoughts of divide.

    The world around us fades to gray,
    As dreams and waking life align,
    In twilight’s realm, we softly play,
    Two hearts entwined, forever twine.

    So let this dream eternally be,
    A testament to love’s decree,
    For in this dream that I now feel,
    Eternity’s embrace is real.
